NEWBORN QUESTIONNAIRE

I am so incredibly excited to capture this new chapter for your family. To help me tell your story in a way that feels 100% authentic to you, I’ve put together a short questionnaire.

Please be as specific (and as wordy!) as you’d like. Don’t be afraid to share the little things,

The more detail you provide, the clearer the vision I have for your session.

please be aware: full newborn sessions can take anywhere from 2:30 up to 4 hours! baby is the boss for these sessions and we may have to stop for feedings, rocking, etc.

NEWBORN PREP

The Full Belly Strategy: We will do our best to schedule your session around your baby's feeding schedule. If your baby eats at 6am and is eating about every 2 hours, we will plan on having you arrive at the studio around 8am. You will be able to feed baby and then this is where I will take over!   A "milk-drunk" baby is a happy, sleepy baby!

Keep Baby Awake: If possible, try to keep your baby awake for an hour or two before the session (a bath is a great way to do this!)

Loose / Easy off Clothing: Please dress baby in something that is loose and can easily be pulled off without waking. A zipper/button up onesie is perfect.

What to Wear: Timeless & Authentic

We want the focus to be on your faces and your connection, not your clothes. Coordinate, Don’t Match: Choose a color palette (neutrals, earthy tones, or soft pastels) and find outfits that complement each other. Avoid everyone wearing the exact same white t-shirt. Texture Over Prints: Think knits, linens, and lace. Avoid large logos, bright neon colors, or distracting patterns.

Comfort is Key: If you feel stiff, you’ll look stiff. Flowy dresses for Mom and simple henleys or knits for Dad work beautifully. If you need any assistance on coordinating outfits, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would love to help!

For the Siblings (Big Brothers & Sisters)

Newborn sessions can be long for toddlers.

Keep it Low Pressure: I’ll start with sibling and family photos first while they are still excited.

The "Helper" Role: I’ll ask them to help me "watch" the baby. Making them feel important leads to those sweet, protective storytelling moments.

I always suggest bringing their favorite snacks and toys/tablet to help keep them entertained for the remainder of the session.
