Client Style Guide

Your guide to styling a timeless, cohesive session that reflects your unique connection.

The Golden Rule:
Coordinate, Don't Match!
Gone are the days of everyone wearing white t-shirts and blue jeans. The goal is to look like a cohesive group, not a uniformed sports team. Start with one outfit you really love (usually mom's!) and build the rest of the group's wardrobe around that piece using complementary colors and varying textures.
Curated Color Palettes
Perfect for fall sessions, tall grass fields, and golden hour
Ideal for beaches, studios, and springtime.
Great for urban settings, mountains, or winter snow.

What to Embrace
[MOVEMENT]
Dresses and skirts that flow catch the wind and look amazing in motion.
[TEXTURES]
Knits, lace, denim, and corduroy add visual interest without being distracting.
[COMFORT]
If you feel uncomfortable, it will show on your face. Wear clothes that fit well right now.
What to Avoid
[LARGE LOGOS]
Graphics and text draw the eye away from your faces. Keep it plain or simple patterns.
[NEON COLORS]
Bright neon colors can cast unflattering color casts onto the skin.
try to avoid BRIGHT AND NEON COLORS AT ALL COST!
[TINY PATTERNS]
Very small gingham or pinstripes can cause a strange "moiré" effect in digital cameras.
QUICK TIP: FOR MOM
Consider long flowy dresses or skirts. If wearing pants, choose a fitted cut that doesn't bunch at the ankles. Accessorize with a hat, scarf or jewelry to pull in other colors from family.
QUICK TIP: FOR HIM
Fitted layers work best. A blazer, a henley, or a chambray shirt. Avoid cargo shorts or athletic shoes. Empty pockets of keys and phones!
QUICK TIP: FOR KIDDOS
Fit is critical. Don't buy "room to grow" sizes, they look baggy. For girls, bloomers under dresses are a must. For boys, high-top socks or boots look great. Think layers to help coordinate & pull together the entire family. A cardigan, a bonnet, lace socks, etc.
